Career Objectives on Your Resume...
It goes without saying that if you are trying to learn
everything you can, regarding the art of writing a resume,
your main objective is to land a job – more specifically a
job that you would really love to do. When it comes to your
career objective however, you cannot simply write something
like: I want to get a job, hire me. You need to be a little
more formal than that. The career objective part of
the resume writing comes right after the heading (personal
information). So, if the hiring manager is reading this
part, that means you have managed to impress them so far. If
you get this part done well, then you would be able to
convince them to keep on reading. A career objective is a
short and concise targeted statement written to clearly
outline the career direction you are focusing on. It should
also position you as a person who ideally fits what the
company is looking for. It is important to understand that
your career objective should be tailored to match the job
description you are applying for. That is why it is
important to always check your CV, especially if you already
have one ready for submission.
As much as possible, when writing a resume, try to avoid
coming up with a generic “Hire me, I am qualified” type of
objective. What you need is to come up with a short
paragraph that would read professional, enticing and
impressive – and at the same time silently telling the
hiring manager that there is no need to waste their time
checking out other resumes as what they are looking is right
in front of them, you.
