That is not the case though, not every job requires the same qualifications, skills, achievements and knowledge. If you are applying for one specific role because you only have traits, skills or knowledge relevant to that job, then it is understandable that you have generalized your objectives to fit one job description. This would only work though if you are a fresh high school or college graduate with no previous work experience. Another common mistake in resume writing is adding a career objective that is all about you. In a way, it should be all about you, but you should talk about what you can contribute to the company, and not what you want to get from the company. You need the company to see your potentials and consider that you would be an asset, so when writing a resume, let them know what you know and what you can offer. Let them know and realize that they will benefit from you more than you will benefit from them.
In writing your objectives, try not to be too vague, as that is another common mistake job seekers commit when writing a resume. Do not just write about you looking for a fulfilling and long-term job where you can employ your knowledge and skills for the role you will be hired for.It would mean that you are not even sure of what you have and what you can offer. You actually cannot even be specific about what role you are applying for. All you managed to convey was that you have knowledge and skills. What skills? What do you know? Do they even apply to the position that the company is trying to fill? It is best to add a little value into your statement. Make it work for you by being a specific about the details.
Writing a career objective that is too long can also be considered as a common mistake in resume writing. Keep this in mind: it should be a quick small blurb that would catch the employer’s interest, enough so that they’d call you in for an interview. Do not compose a novel when writing a resume, you will have your chance to talk more and inform them more about what you can do during the interview.
